Hue Culinary Safari: The Ultimate Walking Food Tour

• Our local food expert will meet you at your hotel/homestay in the center of Hue City. As we begin our walking tour, your guide will provide a fascinating overview of Hue’s history, the Nguyen Dynasty, and how royal standards shaped the meticulous local cuisine we are about to taste.

06:00 PM: The Royal Appetizers

• We walk to our first hidden local gem to enjoy a trio of Hue’s famous steamed rice cakes: Banh Beo (steamed water fern cake), Banh Nam (flat rice dumpling wrapped in banana leaf), and Banh Loc (chewy tapioca dumpling with pork and shrimp).

• The Experience: Your guide will explain the ingredients and the proper way to eat them. You will even get a chance to interact with the owners and see how these delicate dishes are crafted.

07:00 PM: The Noodle Safari

• Hue is famous for its complex noodle dishes, and we will sample tasting portions of the absolute best:

  • Stop 1: Try the unique Bun Hen (Hue mixed noodles with baby clams), a brilliant explosion of textures, peanuts, and local herbs.

  • Stop 2: Move on to a smoky, savory bowl of Bun Thit Nuong (Rice noodles with charcoal-grilled BBQ pork).

  • Stop 3: We save the best for last—a steaming, flavorful bowl of the world-famous Bun Bo Hue (Hue spicy beef noodle soup), arguably the greatest noodle soup in Vietnam.

• After a satisfying culinary journey, we will take a leisurely stroll to a hidden coffee shop terrace. Digest your food while sipping a local drink and enjoying a stunning, panoramic night view of the illuminated Perfume River and Hue City.

08:45 PM: Crispy Pancakes & Local Cheers

• Our final culinary stop features the incredibly crispy Banh Khoai (Hue savory frying pan-cake).

• The Experience: Admire a fun beer-opening performance from the locals, raise a glass of cold Huda Beer (the pride of Central Vietnam) to toast to a great night, and receive a special local gift from your guide.

09:00 PM: Tour Concludes

• Walk back to your hotel with a full stomach and a deeper understanding of Vietnam’s culinary capital. End of the tour.
